U. Arnold describes some the fighting around Atlanta during Gen. Sherman's Western Campaign. He is proud that he, along with every man in the Michigan 23rd, except one, voted for Lincoln in the presidential election. He was battling diarrhea while writing the letter, but he does not go into detail about it.
