Near the end of Benjamin D. Pritchard's 1862-1863 account book, he transcribed a resolution that proposes presenting the flag of the 1st Alabama Cavalry to the people of the State of Michigan. The 4th Michigan captured the flag at Middleton, Tennessee, on May 22, 1862, when they overran a Confederate camp. (Note: The flag remained in the State Archives in Lansing until September 1941, when it was returned to the State of Alabama).
