A letter from Sarah Noddins to her son Thomas Noddins deployed as a Union soldier. Many people from their hometown, Ionia, Michigan, are mentioned, as well as recent events in the family. Sarah has heard rumors that the war will end soon, and she hopes her son Thomas will come home safely. Many townspeople were baptized in the Ionia church. Thomas' son Tomy wrote his father a letter, but it was so indecipherable that Sarah decided not to send it.
