In this letter to his wife Lucinda, Thomas Davis writes that he is well, about his location and distance from the enemy, and building breastworks. Davis describes the status of some of his fellow soldiers including some taken as prisoner. He explains that even though the enemy took his possessions during the battle, he restocked his supplies from items left on the battlefield.
