Davis writes Lucinda informing her that his health has improved although he is still not on duty. He notes that their Division left Huntsville, although due to his injury he was unable to march, therefore he took a train car to Chattanooga. Davis details heavy fighting in General Sherman's Army that took place on the 18th, 19th, and 20th. He notes that the wounded men have been sent to Nashville. Davis writes that he suspects his Division will continue on to Marietta, Georgia. He details that he received a letter from Brother William, who has been stationed in the rifle pits in front of the Rebels. Davis concludes by noting that he also received a letter from David Ingersoll.
