Davis writes to Lucinda acknowledging that she arrived home safely, however noting that he is disappointed she did not send her photograph. He notes that he also received a letter from Mr. Smith. Davis details that they are still encamped near Washington, and that some of the men have adopted the Potomac style. He further notes that the Western men and Potomac men do not get along, and details that the soldiers should be satisfied with fighting since defeating the Rebels. Davis writes that he received a letter from Brother William, who is currently living with Brother Isaac. Their letter notes that Davis' Mother's broken leg is healing. Davis concludes by noting that the army expects to be paid within the next several days.
