Davis writes to his wife about the weather that he is experiencing in Corinth and updates her on the condition of several friends from home. He also lists the men that his regiment has lost and where they are from, as well as the names of men taken prisoner. Davis is upset that he had to leave friends and men from his regiment in cemeteries and hospitals scattered along the route that they had been marching.
