Davis updates his wife on the weather in Corinth and answers some of her questions about his daily life including cooking, washing laundry, and who he sleeps with. He also updates her on several of their friends from Wisconsin, and describes some interactions with the locals in Mississippi and what they think about the war. Several days later, Davis adds more to his letter and speaks about several members of his regiment who were captured and managed to send a letter to the regiment. Davis hopes that General McClellan's army will claim victory in Richmond.
