Israel briefly mentions the size of the crops in Glasgow, KY, the status of a few Confederate prisoners in their camp, and the good news they received from an African American informant who explained that the Confederates are short on food and many are deserting. Israel then praises [his brother?] Willie for wanting to practice shooting a gun, but advises him not to climb on the roof again to do so.
