Benjamin details a skirmish with Confederate forces in which his regiment led a charge through an open field. Benjamin notes that few Union casualties resulted even though he could hear many bullets whizzing by his head. He claims to have had no fear of running into battle and he delights in telling his mother that the Confederates retreated the following day.
