Benjamin mentions that he is now serving as a cook for the stewards of the division's hospital. He is still unsure of whether or not he will reenlist when his two year term is up on the 23rd, but Benjamin says he will follow the actions of the other soldiers with whom he enlisted. However, he is wary that the government will try to force or trick him into serving longer without proper compensation. Benjamin goes on to detail a miserable march his company was ordered to undertake on a cold night.
