Rosa updates Agnes on family and friends' visits, employment, and future plans. She recounts watching Jean François Gravelet (better known as Charles Blondin or "The Great Blondin") carry his manager on his back across a tightrope that was strung across the Niagara River. Rosa goes on to discuss the weather, the state of the family farm, and her new bonnets.
