Rosaltha writes that she is very lonely since all the young men went off to war. She mentions that her uncle was wounded in the war and will be permanently disabled. Rosa goes on to discuss drying and selling apples, her latest fashion purchases, her plans for Thanskgiving, her mother's broken ankle, and the need to sew old clothes in preparation for the winter.
