This is a letter from O.G. Dunckel, a Union soldier, to his wife Elizabeth and their children. Dunckel is tired from marching so far. He asks about how the cattle fare. He doesn't know much about what will happen next in the war. Dunckel and George Price and concerned about having their mail sent home to Michigan stolen, so they both want their families to collect the letters addressed to them from the post office.
