This is a letter from O.G. Dunckel, a Union soldier, to his wife Elizabeth and their children. Dunckel is almost completely better from his sickness, but he thinks he'll have diarrhea for the rest of the time he's in the army. He's worried about the men in the 14th because of the large fight a few days before. Dunckel asks about the neighbors and sends his regards. Dunckel believes the rebels will give up if President Lincoln is elected again; he also thinks the war will be over if Atlanta and Richmond are taken.
