Simeon A. Howe Letter : September 27, 1864

Simeon writes that the order has come through from General Sherman to implement his 'scorched earth' campaign. He also describes the effectiveness of the block houses in thwarting a raid by General Wheeler. Simeon says he is tired of writing about the war and will no longer discuss it in his letters.
