Addison is providing more details to B.H. Thomas about the death of Amos. He mentions that other soldiers who were sick with smallpox recovered, so Amos' was an especially bad case. Addison comforts the family by stating Amos talked a great deal about home, and he felt Amos was prepared to enter heaven.
