This is a letter from Webster Teachout, a Union soldier, to his father. Teachout talks about his company's movments and the fear he has that his friends have been taken prisoner or killed. He will be paid soon, but he's unsure how many months of pay he will recieve. Teachout asks how his family is doing and wants to know about the family crops and livestock conditions.
