This machine was used to make ice cream. "Centrifugal Ice Cream Freezer" is stamped acrossed the metal top. To create ice cream, ice and salt were put into the metal cylinder that closes at the end. The mix for ice cream was put into the wooden box/container and the cylinder was then turned using the handle. (The handle is missing in this example). When frozen, the ice cream went into the metal drawer seen in the top photo.
