U.S. President Barack Obama speaks to the nation from Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan
In the first presidential address to the nation delivered from an overseas location, President Obama addresses the nation from Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan after signing a historic agreement between the United States and Afghanistan. Obama explains the agreement will provide aid, advisers and support after NATO combat troops leave in 2014 and Afghans become responsible for the security of their nation. It is also the first anniversary of the killing of terrorist leader Osama bin Laden. Obama declares he will negotiate with the Taliban if they renounce violence and join in rebuilding the country.
