President Barack Obama speaks to U.S. troops at Bagram Air Force Base during a surprise trip to Afghanistan. He thanks them for their dedication and sacrifice, lists the reasons why the U.S. and NATO are in Afghanistan, promises to get the troops out as soon as possible, and says he will only send U.S. personnel into harms way when it is absolutely necessary. Obama also promises to provide for the families of service members and returning veterans.
